Welcome to the website of the Frankfurt Botanical Garden. Since 2012, the former science garden of the Goethe University Frankfurt is now part of the Palmengarten and is managed by the City of Frankfurt.

Opening hours of the Botanical Garden
The garden is open daily from the last Sunday in February to the end of October. Admission is free. The Botanic Garden is closed in winter. 

  • Monday - Saturday: 9.00 - 18.00
  • Sundays and public holidays: 9.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.

Subject to change - The garden closes when darkness falls in the fall. The garden may be closed at short notice in the event of storms, hail and other dangers.

In accordance with the founding statutes of Dr. Johann Christian Senckenberg, the Botanic Garden welcomes all interested people equally, admission is free!

The Botanic Garden has been tested for accessibility and has received the corresponding certificate from Reisen für Alle. All garden areas are accessible via our main paths without steps or only with small steps, but the side paths are only partially accessible without steps and are narrow in places.

Our Senckenberg Medicinal Plant Garden has been specially designed for people with visual impairments and has a guidance system that leads from the entrance gate to the medicinal plant garden. It has tactile signage and there is an audio guide that can be used with a smartphone via our app. The app can be found at the bottom of our homepage or downloaded via QR codes on the display boards at the main entrance or at the medicinal plant garden. 

If required, a wheelchair is available free of charge - please ask the garden administration or the garden supervisor.

The easiest way for people with disabilities to reach the garden by public transport is via the bus stop "Botanischer Garten" on line M32. The crosswalk there is barrier-free, and a footpath leads directly from there to the Botanic Garden.

Public guided tours of the Freundeskreis Botanischer Garten Frankfurt e.V. can be found in our garden program on the homepage. Participation is free of charge (unless otherwise stated) and advance registration is not necessary.

Guided tours for school classes, kindergarten groups or visitor groups can be booked on various topics via the Green School of the Palm Garden and are subject to a charge. Further information and the contact form can be found under the link Palmengarten Frankfurt: Green School

Would you like to explore the Frankfurt Botanical Garden on your own as a school group or larger group of visitors? You are very welcome. However, please register in advance with the garden administration. Please send an e-mail to info@botanischergarten-frankfurt.de or call 069-212 39058 (Mon. to Fri. 8 am - 4 pm).

Are you a professional visitor from other botanical gardens, local authorities or public institutions? Then please contact our garden management in advance.

In order to preserve the natural and peaceful character of the garden, we ask visitors to observe a few rules:

  • no bicycles in the garden
  • no dogs - except guide dogs
  • Do not leave paths or enter flower beds
  • Do not remove or tear off any parts of plants, fruit, mushrooms, stones etc.
  • no sporting activities
  • do not make noise
  • register larger groups and school classes in advance
  • no unannounced parties etc.
  • follow the instructions of the garden staff

Unfortunately, there are no parking facilities at the Botanical Garden or on the premises. Please use the parking garage at the Palmengarten (entrance Siesmayerstraße 63, entrance height 2.10m) or a limited number of parking spaces at Grüneburgpark.
